This is a companion to the Endurance update, so it's all about freighters.
That's the good news. The (depending on how you see it) bad news is that it is so short that I didn't even get to take a single screen grab. There is NOTHING wrong with it, it's just that after the emotional abuse that was Leviathan, this is basically a cake walk.
More good news: you don't have to wait until the last day of the expedition to convert your save, instead it is done as soon as you finish it.
Looking back, everything was easy except for the optional Hospitality milestone. The easiest way to score this is to hang out at the Anomaly until somebody shows up asking to join, then you can visit each other's freighter bases. I got mine without even talking to the other person, I just picked them up at the anomaly, flew outside until I realized that there was a second freighter marked in gold, I landed and boom, done.
In my opinion the real purpose of this expedition was to show people how they can use their freighter to do all of their long range traveling, and leave their starships for flying within one system at a time. Since thanks to Endurance we can now teleport back to our freighters, this works very smoothly. You jump to a new system, hit the scanner room to automatically survey the whole system, without the need to land on each planet/moon. You're now free to do whatever the hell you want.
Also, in case you missed the last round of Twitch drops, go ahead and kick yourself. Why? Because it included a bunch of great ships and multi-tools. Worst case scenario, whenever you start a new game, as soon as you hit the anomaly you'll be rich from scrapping all but the one that you want to keep.
I already started a fresh game to try to recreate the nomadic style of Polestar, the only thing that confused me is that the unlocks are back to normal and I had forgotten that certain things like the save point are unlocked by the computer archives mission instead of by paying for it with salvage units.
