Captures are from a creative save with about 80 hours of play time.
There are some reports of freighter layouts getting corrupted, in my case I had no real trouble. I did lose my teleporter and the trade terminal, everything else was pretty much the same. The only glitching was in areas with stickers if a particular room changed to the new style with faceted walls.
It *was* confusing as hell to walk around the first few minutes. After an hour or so it feels completely natural. The biggest change of course is that they basically re-invented freighter construction. There are also a lot of quality-of-life tweaks. For example you can now teleport back to a freighter. And you can teleport from your freighter to a frigate to inspect or fix it. You can also recruit additional living frigates like Leviathan, you will need to build a Dream Aerial, which is a reward from a frigate expedition. I got mine the next time a frigate expedition ended, and it took just a few minutes to figure out how to find and recruit a second living frigate.
You can also feed the living frigates, every time you do so it'll shuffle the statistics for the frigate.
It isn't perfect, for example the Teleport doesn't want to work when approached from the front, and I can't spawn the construction specialist. The science specialist spawned within the desk of its workstation and I can't talk to them at all. The Flight Assist Override starship module doesn't seem to do anything, it is supposed to allow ships to drift.
